Good morning everyone,

It was so exciting having so many of you with us on Monday night for our Florida Affiliate Washington Seminar review meeting. Over 35 folks were on the call and many others contacted me to say that they also have a strong interest in being part of this year’s truly important event. I am so very honored and proud to be part of our amazing Affiliate and am grateful to each and every one of you for your interest and support of our legislative efforts.

As mentioned, our NFB national advocacy and policy team is holding an issues review Zoom call tonight at 8:00 PM EST. I strongly encourage you to attend this meeting if you can, so you can hear another in depth review of the four 2022 Washington Seminar legislative priorities. Remember that the four issues are:

Access Technology Affordability Act
Medical Device Non Visual Accessibility Act
Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act
21st Century Websites and Applications Accessibility Act.

I’d sent out the fact sheets for the four issues, but have been told by several folks that they did not receive the four separate emails. Not sure what happened there, but in the interest of insuring that the info gets out to you all, I will resend those four emails again. I’m going to ask for your forgiveness for the boat load of emails you will get from me during the morning today.

Our next Affiliate wide call will be on Wednesday, January 19. You’ll get an email from me about that one as it gets closer, as for now, see below for the Zoom link for tonight’s issue review call. On the 24th of January, there will be a practice mock meeting training held by National as well, if you can make that meeting too, that would be terrific.

Respectfully,

Russ Davis,
Legislative Director, National Federation of the Blind of Florida

Subject: [NFB-Legislative-Directors] Washington Seminar fact Sheets and Training Schedule

Dear Affiliate Presidents and Legislative Directors:

The Washington Seminar fact sheets are now available in Word and HTML formats on the Washington Seminar Priorities Page of our website. We will be adding downloadable BRF files and audio soon.

We will be conducting issues training on Monday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 12. This will be the exact same meeting held twice. You only need to attend once, but may attend both times if you think that would be helpful.

We will be conducting mock meetings on Wednesday, January 19 and Monday, January 24. The January 24 meeting will be a repeat of the January 19 meeting. Folks are asked to attend one of the two mock meeting sessions but are also welcome to attend both if they think that would be helpful.

All meetings will be from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST. All four meetings will have the same Zoom credentials which can be found below.
