Greetings everyone,
First and foremost, I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Chag
Sameach-Happy Passover.
I also want to take this opportunity to let everyone know about future
activities of the NFB in Judaism Group:
- Please mark your calendars for Sunday, May 19, 2024 for our next
gathering via Zoom, starting at 2 PM EDT, 1 PM CDT, 12 Noon MDT, 11 AM PDT,
and 9 PM Israel time. I am pleased to announce that newly ordained Rabbi
Gabi Cohen will be talking about the life and role of people who are blind
and/or have low vision in biblical times. You may wish to let your
non-Jewish friends know about this presentation. I expect the meeting to
last for about 2 hours. Zoom link details to follow.
- Our annual in-person meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 4, 2024
during the annual convention of National Federation of the Blind in
Orlando, FL. The meeting will run from 7-9 PM EDT. The meeting room is to
be determined. We will have two speakers; Rabbi Lenny Sarko, who will show
his Braille Sefer Torah and Livia Thompson, Executive Director of JBI
International. If you cannot be there in person, we will plan on having
the meeting on Zoom as well in person.
- On Friday, July 5, 2024 from 5:45-7:00 PM EDT we are planning a
Shabbat Celebration. This will be a chance for people to get together,
have a little wine and Challah to start Shabbat. Rabbi Sarko is willing to
lead a short service. This has been something that has been talked about
since I became the chair of this group in 2022. *I would appreciate
assistance in putting this event together. Anyone interested in helping
out, please contact me privatly. My contact information appears at the end
of this message.*
I hope that everyone will make it a priority to come to our events. Once
again, I hope everyone has a happy Passover celebration!
Chag Sameach and Shalom
