Shabbat Shalom,
Our national convention is less than a month away.  The convention agenda
has just been put out.  Our group has two exciting events during our annual
convention.  Here is information about our first activity taken directly
from the agenda:
7:00 - 9:00 p.m. NFB in Judaism Meeting

Join us as we hear from Rabbi Larry Sarko as he shares his Braille Sefer
Torah Scroll. We will also hear from Livia Thompson, Executive Director,
JBI International, on what that outstanding organization is working on. We
will also have some time to meet each other.

This is the first time that we have heard from Rabbi Lenny (not
Larry-apologies to Rabbi Sarko).  He is bringing a Braille Sefer Torah to
show everyone.  This hopefully will be "hands on experience".  He will also
talk about his other materials including a beginning Hebrew training
course.  We will also hear from Livia Thompson, CEO and Rabbi Andrew
Goodman, COO, JBI International.  They will share with us all of the
activities that JBI is working on.  JBI will have a booth in our exhibit
hall on July 4 & 5.  Please come by and say hello.  This meeting will also
be available via Zoom for those who cannot be there.  Here is the Zoom

The second activity is new for our group.  Here is what is in our agenda:
"5:45 - 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Shabbat (the Sabbath)

Join with other Federationists who happen to be Jewish in welcoming Shabbat
(the Sabbath) with perhaps some wine, bread (challah), lighting the Shabbat
candles, and perhaps a short Friday evening service before people go off to
other events."

This is a first time event for our group.  It has been an idea brought up
two years in a row.  Rabbi Sarko has graciously offered to lead a Friday
night service including a short Torah service.  I hope that we can have at
least 10 people (a minyon) for the service.  I am requesting assistance in
locating the following items:

   - Shabbat Candles
   - Kosher wine
   - Grape juice
   - Challah

If you can help out, let me know.  My contact information is at the bottom
of this email.  Any assistance from any of you attending our convention
will be greatly appreciated.  This is a chance to bring in the spirit of
Shabbat to our convention.

This will be the first of several reminders.  I look forward to seeing as
many of you as possible at our convention activities.
