Dear Stewart,

This month, we are honored to celebrate *Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAIM)!* At JBI Library, this is more than just a month on the calendar—it is at the heart of our mission to ensure Jewish life is accessible to everyone, including those who are blind, have low vision, or have a print disability.

For this year’s JDAIM, we’re hosting two special free and virtual programs that amplify the lived experiences of our community:

   - *A JBI Patron Panel:* A meaningful discussion with members of our
library who will be sharing their experiences on living with disabilities
   in the Jewish community.
   - *Virtual Film Screening: *An audio-described screening of the
documentary “Looking Up,” followed by a conversation with Director Elena
   Neuman Lefkowitz.

We hope you will join us in listening to and learning from the voices that shape our community. You’ll find registration details at the end of this email—we would love to have you there, and please feel free to share this with your communities.

*Looking Ahead to Passover*

JBI Library is also thinking forward to Passover, as we hope to reach more members of our community who are blind, have low vision, or have a print disability (including physical disabilities such as Parkinsons and MS or reading disabilities such as dyslexia) to let them know about our free, accessible Haggadah collection. We are pleased to invite nonprofits and synagogues to make the holidays more inclusive this year with free large print, braille, and audio Haggadot.

*March 4* is the deadline to request Haggadot for your nonprofit or synagogue. If you are interested in having accessible Haggadot available for your community, you can order *up to 3 for free* through our *website order form* <https://cts.vresp.com/c/?JBILibrary/4fad240154/76e4367e28/94ae6ba9a7>. If you need larger quantities, please contact our librarians at library at jbilibrary.org or 212-545-8025 to discuss how we can help.

*Please help us spread the word to your community and anyone who would benefit from a free large print, braille, or audio Haggadah. *We have more than 20 different editions available, all of which can help create an inclusive Seder this Passover.

For your convenience, I’m including below a *blurb *describing our Haggadah offerings, *a flyer for printing* <https://cts.vresp.com/c/?JBILibrary/4fad240154/76e4367e28/25c61c60fd>,

*“Looking Up”: Audio Described Documentary Film Screening with Director Q&A* *Monday, February 23 at 4:30pm ET* *Virtual (Zoom), FREE*

We are pleased to invite you to a special screening of the documentary film “Looking Up,” followed by a Q&A with the film’s director Elena Neuman Lefkowitz.

“Looking Up” is the inspiring story of Eitan Armon, a young man facing encroaching blindness, as he takes on the challenge of climbing the world’s most epic granite wall, El Capitan. Diagnosed with RP at the age of 20, Eitan faces the reality of a life without eyesight. Retinitis Pigmentosa, or RP, is a very rare and incurable genetic disease that gradually causes blindness over time. With about 5% of his central vision remaining, Eitan decides to challenge himself and ascend Yosemite’s daunting El Capitan.
Refusing to be limited by his limitations, Eitan’s journey demonstrates that life has endless possibilities for those who approach it with positivity and resilience.

In “Looking Up", Eitan lets go of everything he can’t control and focuses on what he can. Throughout Eitan’s journey, we come to appreciate the strength of character of a young man who has been dealt a bad hand and refuses to sink into despair. The film showcases Eitan’s resilience, great sense of humor, and grit.
