There *is* a movie that badly needs narration if JBI or someone knows another place that might fund it. It's a movie called the Dybbuk and it can be watched on YouTube. I heard about it on NPR about 37 years ago, and what I"m about to say about it is from that old memory, so I am probably missing details. Apparently in Warsaw before the war, it was such a thriving community it had it's own film industry. It was thought all the films from that era were lost, and then somehow it was discoverd that lots of people had old reels in their attics and some organization, I've forgotten put out a call - I forget if they offered to pay but it was a no questions asked solicitation and they received a lot of footage, more than they expected, although much had not held up over time, and the Dybbuk is the one film they were able to piece together in entirety from segments of film that hadn't deteriorated. The film is set in a small town, and apparently the actors who were less traditional and city people didn't know Yiddish so had to sort of learn it as they acted. They all came to America and either chose to go back to Europe or were sent back and tragically all were killed. I'm sure with a little searching the full story is out there somewhere in more detail than the fragments in my memory. Back then, 37 years ago, it was being shown somewhere in NYC and I went to see it with a sighted friend who read me subtitles. It is in Yiddish and Hebrew and I don't know Yiddish at all. We sat in front and my friend had kind of a stage whisper and people were complaining about us being too loud but I'm glad I saw it then. Since it's on YOuTube, it can be viewed without anyone getting in a huff about it. For those who speak Yiddish and Hebrew, I think it is easy to follow without additional narration, but my friend gave me both at the time, so I think it can be translated and narrated and still appreciated from the original. It's very long, and there's a lot going on. I tried to watch it somewhat recently, thinking I could follow since I once knew how it went but I just could not.. It's such a treasure, we should have access to it.

Subject: Seeking Work as Voice Actor
Hello, everyone:
I am a trained voice artist, having studied at both the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre and VoiceMedia in Lafayette. At this time, I am not affiliated with Sag Aftra.
I am seeking work narrating videos, educational ,material, documentaries, and corporate training programs. I am available for narration in person during concerts or other events. I can also voice commercials, cartoon characters, and animations. This includes singing. Finally, I can narrate audiobooks, both fiction and non-fiction, for both adults and children.
As for languages, I can narrate in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, French, Spanish, and Italian. Although I am not native to all of these languages, my narration in them is quite passable. Attached please find my voice actor demo reel. I can prepare brief narration demos in other languages upon request.
I charge a base rate, that includes preparation and the 1st hour, of $250 for short work, and $500 for longer work, plus $150 per hour thereafter. I consider short work to be up to ten minutes.
I would very much appreciate spreading the word about my availability. Please feel free to email me, or leave me a message at 510-504-3211. Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Daveed Mandell
