Subject: Upcoming Verbal Description Tours at the Museum at Eldridge Street
Hello,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am excited to invite you to the upcoming Verbal Description Tours at the Museum at Eldridge Street!
Next month, the Museum will host verbal description tours via Zoom of our current exhibition, First Light: Birth in the Jewish Tradition. This exhibition offers a journey through various birth rituals in Jewish tradition, tracing the origin and evolution of Jewish rights, customs, and superstitions from ancient times to the present. The objects featured in this exhibition include art inspired by the arrival of new life and objects used in celebrations and ceremonies after a child is born. Our verbal description tour will look at a selection of art and ritual objects from the exhibition.
The virtual tour will be held on Sunday, March 15th, 2026, at 1 pm ET, with an encore tour on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at 6 pm ET.
On Sunday, May 3rd at 10:30 am, we will also be holding an In-Person Verbal Description Tour of our Museum’s home, the Eldridge Street Synagogue. The first grand synagogue built by the Eastern European Jewish community in America, the Synagogue is an architectural marvel and a symbol of immigrant aspirations realized. This verbal description tour explores our historic site, its history, and the story of its congregation as part of the Lower East Side's rich immigrant history.
All of the Museum’s access programs are free. You can register for them by replying to this email, emailing us at access at eldridgestreet.org <mailto:access at eldridgestreet.org> , or using the links below.
