a.. Alana Nichols (Farmington, N.M.) won the first U.S. gold
medal of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games this past Tuesday by taking the
top spot in the women's sitting giant slalom, followed by teammate Stephani
Victor (Park City, Utah) who won silver. Nichols then won her second gold
medal of the games on Thursday, this one coming in the downhill (sitting).
Nichols was joined on the podium by teammate Laurie Stephens (Wenham, Mass.)
who won silver.
b.. After beating Japan 6-0 on Tuesday, the U.S. Paralympic

gold medal sled hockey match. The game marked goalie Steve Cash's (Overland,
