Description of Vacancy's Duties : *PROFICIENCY IN BRAILLE
REQUIRED*

Provides direct evaluation and training to consumers in the areas of
Braille and Audio-Digital Equipment. Works in partnership with
counselors to develop skills required for employment. Assesses
individual needs for rehabilitation technology. Documents work with
consumers and consumer's progress through progress notes, evaluation
reports, monthly progress reports, and training reports. Evaluates
medical, psychological, vocational and other technical reports. Develops
individual training plans with special emphasis on individuals with most
severe disabilities, including training, instruction, technical aids and
devices. Serves on interdisciplinary team to provide input as to plans
to enable consumers to meet their vocational and independent living
goals through meetings of the Vocational Preparation Unit staff and
through student staffing conferences. Provides consumers and employers
with information on accessibility, reasonable accommodation, disability
awareness, and Americans with Disabilities Act information. Provides
technical expertise to employers and the general public as to
specialized skill areas. 

*ABILITY TO READ BRAILLE REQUIRED* 
Selection Method : Qualifying: All candidates who apply and meet
the minimum requirements are eligible for placement on the register for
hiring consideration. 
Group : VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION 
Characteristics of the Class : Under supervision, gains skills to
perform professional level vocational rehabilitation functions such as
vocational or technology assessments, rehabilitation technology,
rehabilitation instruction, personal adjustment, job development and job
placement functions, basic public relations functions, supported
employment and/or vocational evaluation; OR Under supervision performs
as a novice counselor, providing basic vocational rehabilitation
caseload duties such as collecting information and making
recommendations for determining eligibility, plan development and
implementation; and performs other duties as required. 
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements : Work is
performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will be
required to coordinate services between customers and the agency. 
Additional Requirements : Applicants and employees in this
classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and
background check.
