PURCHASING SPECIALIST


Under the general direction and supervision of the Materials Department
Manager, this position is responsible for procuring materials and
services, using the department and company procurement policies and
procedures.  This position is responsible for placing orders and
answering questions in regards to their status as well as maintaining
purchasing and related documents and reporting delinquencies and
discrepancies.  Close interactions with Operations Planning, Receiving/
Shipping/ Warehouse and Accounting departments are frequent.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


1.   Responsible for communicating with vendors such as conferring about
products or service information including price, availability,
discrepancies, order status and delivery schedule.

2.   Reviews requisitions and generates purchase orders for raw
materials and supplies.

3.   Contacts suppliers about delinquent orders, quality and quantity
discrepancies.  Routinely checks vendor performance and develops new
supply sources where price objectives or delivery schedules are
inadequate.

4.   Works independently with multiple departments to ensure their
requirements are met and manage the office supplies inventory.

5.   Prepares and reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within
budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

6.   Other duties as assigned by the Materials Department Manager.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


1.   Associate's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Purchasing
or other related field required.

2.   Two to three years verifiable work experience required in
purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse, specifically in a
manufacturing environment.

3.   Working knowledge of EPR and Purchase Orders.

4.   Must have the following attributes.

a.   Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet.

b.   Strong business ethics, verbal communication and interpersonal
skills.

c.   Demonstrated problem solving skills.

d.   Organizational skills for efficient office control are mandatory.


COMPENSATION


Pay Grade:  7              Minimum:  $17.92              Midpoint:
$22.23
