Description of Job Duties This position is responsible for
planning and organizing late afternoon and evening recreational
activities for the consumers of the Charles McDowell Rehab Center.
Teaches consumers to plan/implement activities independent of staff
involvement,counseling consumers on learning & participating in new
activities and hobbies. This position will also assess needs and provide
training in skilled ares to persons with disabilities. Assists in
relocating by obtaining permanent affordable housing and assisting in
the application process and obtaining paratransit & other necessary
services. Provides documentation on the consumer's skill levels &
ability to perform skills needed for rehabilitation, training, or to
gain independence leading to employment.
Selection Method : Qualifying: All candidates who apply and meet
the minimum requirements are eligible for placement on the register for
hiring consideration.
Group : VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
Characteristics of the Class : Under supervision, gains skills to
perform professional level vocational rehabilitation functions such as
vocational or technology assessments, rehabilitation technology,
rehabilitation instruction, personal adjustment, job development and job
placement functions, basic public relations functions, supported
employment and/or vocational evaluation; OR Under supervision performs
as a novice counselor, providing basic vocational rehabilitation
caseload duties such as collecting information and making
recommendations for determining eligibility, plan development and
implementation; and performs other duties as required.
Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements : Work is
performed primarily in an office setting. Occasional travel will be
required to coordinate services between customers and the agency.
Additional Requirements : Applicants and employees in this
classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and
background check.
