    The primary duties of the Deputy Director include:




    Provides direction on administrative and program functions within the Division





    Works closely with the Director and Personnel Administrator on the management of human resources including organizational changes, allocation of personnel, and actions related to recruitment, selection, transfer, reassignment, promotions and disciplinary actions





    Oversees the development and tracking of the DBS Strategic Plan and related projects and ensures alignment with the State Plan and findings of the Comprehensive Needs Assessment conducted every three years 





    Works with auditors from the Department, Auditor General, and US Department of Education to coordinate audit activities, the Division's response and tracking of corrective actions





    Participates in legislative activities including presentations to the Florida Legislature, preparation of proposed legislative bills, and response to inquiries by legislators and other State officials





    Coordinates the submission of all federal and state reports and ensures reports are submitted timely and reflect data that is based on logical rationale





    Represents the Director in all matters including attendance at meetings with other agencies, such as the Department of Financial Services, Department of Management Services and Department of Education 





    Collects, monitors and analyzes data in order to evaluate the performance of the Division and makes recommendations for corrective   actions necessary to quality services and the Division's operation
