2012 National Disability Policy Discussions

Education, Employment, and the Civil Rights of

People with Disabilities

“Ensuring Our Voices Are Heard in the Policy Discussion”

The National Federation of the Blind will be hosting policy discussions on the education, employment, and civil rights of people with disabilities during the upcoming Republican and Democratic national conventions. Public policies and laws affecting people with disabilities have a profound impact throughout our entire society. Most people know someone who has a disability. It may be a friend, a family member, or a coworker. Many others will experience disability at some point in their lives, especially as life expectancy increases. The social and economic consequences of disability therefore have some impact on all of us. Our nation’s potential policy leaders will be determined through the political process taking place at these conventions, and we want to ensure that they are aware of our policy concerns.

Individuals who would like to participate on a policy panel should contact Anil Lewis at Alewis at nfb.org or (410) 659-9314, extension 2374.

Limited seating is available. Individuals wishing to attend either of these events should RSVP as soon as possible by emailing AHammerbacher at nfb.org.

The location, date, and time of each forum are as follows:
