If you noticed, she says that they will try to make accommodations for those who don't come on the designated date as long as they know in advance. We have attended numerous matinee performances with description and have nothing but praise for the service and the performance.

Do they think that the blind do not know the difference? And only one performance out of the whole run is described? This is the second year that I have encountered this.

The next year, description was only offered at a matinee. Both I and the sighted people that went with me were very disappointed with the B cast and abbreviated format. Last year, due to medical issues in our family, we were late in deciding that we could make a performance. It was unanimous that we did NOT want a matinee, and I discovered that we had already missed the performance that was described, but it was only a matinee so we would not have chosen it anyway.

It is such a shame that when a service is offered, it is then taken away and you are left with substandard choices.

If you have been avoiding live theater because you felt that as a blind or visually impaired person you couldn’t enjoy it, I strongly urge you to reconsider and attend one of these performances. The description comes through a headset and is inserted at appropriate times and does not interfere with dialogue or music.
