Did you know that NFB-NEWSLINE KENTUCKY is available 24-7 at your convenience via the touch-tone telephone, e-mail, internet, Apple iProducts, various portable digital devices through the download of ones favorite publications. The NFB-NEWSLINE Kentucky information service has been available at no cost to the subscriber through the toll free access (1-888-882-1629) since 2002 and is now also available through local call numbers.
Maintain your access to vital information that has brought about success in your personal life and keep your informational edge sharp. Mr. Joe Dallas in Bardstown says he uses NFB-NEWSLINE KENTUCKY to follow the Stock Market and, therefore, continues to invest wisely and successfully. Ben Emerson,a musician in Lexington, who happens to be blind, uses the audio information service to spot the potential need for a musician and news reports of networking opportunity meetings and follows the leads to enhance his success in music. Ms. Alisha Wellington in Owensboro says she uses the service to review the Obituaries daily, especially since she and her life-long friends are aging with names frequenting that particular section of the daily newspaper. Personally, I visit the Paducah Sun to read the Obituaries since I now live 300 miles away from my hometown and old friends. Mrs. Della Grey in Louisville says she never goes shopping without first checking on the sales ads of the local Target Store and often changes the Zip Code to check the sales ads for friends who live in other areas of the state and country. Mr. Bill Stone in Ashland uses the Job Search feature regularly to check on job openings in his preferred field of employment all over the Commonwealth and sometimes in neighboring states if the work is not too terribly far away from home.
It is great just to relax, remove your thinking from the present troubles and challenges and enjoy access to printed materials and watch or listen to a little television? Even though, you do not have the ability to use the remote control programming guide or on-screen TV programming, NFB-NEWSLINE KENTUCKY makes it possible for you to relax and enjoy your favorite TV programming, simply Dial up the service, choose #8 off the main menu and listen to 13 days of TV programming information such as the channel number, network, description of todays show and of course day and time of your favorite program; in addition to having the ability to surf through the programming guide by pressing the telephone keypad keys to move ahead or backwards a channel at a time and likewise with the hours of viewing. Many of our fellow Kentuckians are enjoying the access that NFB-NEWSLINE Kentucky provides.
Ms. Patty Noble in London, KY says she never misses favorite broadcasts any longer because she can now find the details and also often becomes a star herself among her friends when she can help them catch up on the events of favorite TV series.
Have you tried the Global Search feature found under the #0 off the main menu? Using this feature provides a fascinating opportunity to search all or any publications for a key word or phrase that absolutely gives you the edge in current event news! While working at the NFB-NEWSLINE exhibit table at a convention, a mother and daughter stopped for information. I described the service in great detail (perhaps a bit too intensely for the twelve year old girl who is visually impaired) and asked after a few moments if the young lady would like to subscribe. An emphatic, No was her answer! I apologized for being so detailed for the young reader and asked for her attention for just one little story. Debbie humored me for a moment as I shared that I was listening to the 6:30PM world news on TV one evening, and with the closing comments, the host mentioned the falling of a Giant Sequoia Tree in Northern California. That really got my attention, and I listened for more information about the tree. That was it! No reason, no nothing more I was so frustrated! I wanted to know more about such a magnificent display of nature. I dialed up NFB-NEWSLINE KENTUCKY, selected the Global Search, keyed in Sequoia and almost immediately the service displayed 27 articles from various newspapers in the Northern California area that reported all the detail and more regarding the falling of the national icon! Then Debbie asked, how do I register? Being faced with a continual line of classroom assignments regarding the news and having a challenge to discover materials to use for such assignments, she realized immediately that she would be independent and able to access the needed information and never again would she have to experience the stress of near failure to identify newsworthy items for assignments. Debbie understood that with accessing NEWSLINE that she could complete her assignments independently without being forced to find someone, just anyone, who would give a few minutes to attempt to search for her preferred information.
NFB-NEWSLINE KENTUCKY 2013 has had a wonderful year of expansion! In addition to the Emergency Weather Alert that is announced immediately following the dial-up introduction if there is a weather emergency in the readers home area, the national team has brought on the Weather Channel found under option #2 off the main menu. The Weather Channel provides you with current weather information, an hourly forecast of the day and each days forecast for 8 days. The channel also gives you detailed information such as the pollen count, mold index and much more. Also in 2013, the national team programmed the service so that you can change the Zip Code when traveling or simply desiring zip code specific information such as the weather, Target Store Ads and TV Listings. The local NFB-NEWSLINE KENTUCKY team was fortunate to collaborate with the National NFB-NEWSLINE Team and KY Bar Association to provide the highly esteemed Bench and Bar membership publication.
***When you find an article of interest and want to refer to particular information within the article at a later date, then by simply pressing the telephone keypad Pound Sign followed by the #9 key, the entire article will be immediately delivered to your private email inbox and then continues reading in the publication that you selected.
2014 will be as equally wonderful for expansion, new publications and new features, providing equal access to print information. Stay tuned For more information, comment or to make a donation, call Independence Place, Inc. locally in Lexington KY at 859-266-2807 or toll free from anywhere in the Commonwealth at (877) 266-2807.
