> Join American Printing House for the Blind for a Baseball Experience at Slugger Field
> Louisville, KY (May 13, 2013) - Sign up now to join APH staff at Louisville Slugger Field on Wednesday, May 22, from 2:30- 4:30, for a baseball experience designed for adults who are blind. The group will be limited to the first 20 people to sign up. Please register by noon on Monday, May 20 by contacting Fred Otto at 502-899-2317 or by email, fotto at aph.org.
> We will explore the ball field with a group of blind and visually impaired people to experience what it is to be on the baseball field. We will engage in activities such as walking or running the distances from one outfield position to another, or standing on the pitcher's mound and having fielders or baserunners call out in order to experience the spatial relationships involved. Of course, running the bases and throwing the ball will be part of the experience, too.
> We will see and feel the bases, the outfield wall, the warning track, the locations of the stands and dugouts, and appreciate the range and distance that players must cover in running or throwing. And we will explain the strike zone, the batter's box, and all the mysterious things the umpires must handle in making their decisions.
> We will be photographed or recorded, by APH and possibly by local media, so you'll be asked to sign a media release form on arrival. You will also need to make your own transportation arrangements to and from the ballpark.
