TECHNOLOGY PRODUCT SPECIALIST

Reporting to the Technology Program Manager, this position primarily assists with the development, field testing, and production of technology related projects.  The position will utilize the results of field tests and data collection to help improve/modernize existing APH products. This position provides support to APH's mission, APH personnel, and others in the area of technology product development.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in the product submission process, including but not limited to the solicitation of new product ideas, the research that is to be considered by the APH Product Evaluation Team (PET), and the coordination of the information for the APH Product Advisory & Research Committee (PARC).
Prepare CD production status reports.
Ensure CD masters are up to date for production by working with individual project leaders and technology staff.
Work with the Drupal content management system to keep pages up to date and relevant.
Work with the Request Tracker ticketing system to log issues and follow through with resolutions.
Conduct field testing among groups that are representative of the population to be served, and assure that the field testing meets professional standards for applied or basic research as regards to validity, reliability, and confidentiality of subjects.
Compile results from field testing/expert reviews, make appropriate changes to the prototype, and work with appropriate staff including Technical Research to prepare the final documents for specifications and tooling in order to manufacturer the product(s).
Create teacher manuals and support documents for existing assistive technology products.
Represent APH at conferences through attendance, presentations and support of APH exhibition of products. Provide technical support to staff presenting at conferences.

Provide technical support to consumers of current products, as well as designated APH staff.
Test and QC software being developed by APH; Edit HTML and prepare documents; Proofread technical documentation

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Strong ability to communicate technical issues to consumers as well as communicate and work across departmental lines
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of abilities within a diverse community.
Excellent presentation skills.
Ability to establish multiple priorities and conceive and manage own projects.

Basic knowledge of HTML, EPUB, and other markup languages and file formats.



EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in field of Technology preferred; equivalent experience or education considered.
 Five (5) or more years of experience in assistive technology training or instruction.
Experience writing and proofreading training manuals, instruction manuals, and/or technical documentation.
Experience conducting training for end users of assistive technology products.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Adobe Acrobat, internet browsers, Google Drive, and other cloud-based technologies such as Dropbox.

COMPENSATION:
Pay Grade: 7             Minimum:  19.20               Midpoint:   23.82
