Subject: FW: SOAR Message
Commissioner Brinly has asked for our help, below:
On Monday, December 9, 2013, at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center in
Pikeville, there will be a one-day regional summit to launch SOAR-Shaping
Our Appalachian Region, designed to begin to frame a new vision for southern
and eastern Kentucky's future to seek unity of purpose -collaborative action
by businesses, nonprofits, foundations, financial institutions, educational
institutions, state and local governments, and young leaders - to create a
long-term plan to ensure the region can grow and prosper.
There is a real desire on the part of the SOAR Planning Committee to
increase registration rates by key constituencies including business,
community-based organization leaders and youth from the ARC counties.
Therefore, we would appreciate your reaching out to your key partners and
customers in the ARC counties to sign-up for the event. The agenda is in
the process of being finalized, the draft includes topics related to
workforce development including: job creation, investment, tourism, regional
collaboration and identity, health/biotechnology/human services, etc. Some
of the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board strategic action items will
likely be woven throughout the facilitated discussions such as Sector
Strategies and Work Ready Communities.
Thanks, in advance, for your efforts to recruit quality participants!
