Terrie,

If you don’t mind, would you post this on TAD for us? You are registered, right? If not, I can post, but I want to make sure you are on the TAD list serve.

Best,

Todd

Outstanding! I had help on the way. I called in the big guns from the Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired(CAVI) to tackle this, but I see that we’ve got a pretty good trouble-shooting group of our own, right?

Very considerate of you to write that out for folks, Terrie. If you don’t mind, I’ll post this tech tip on TAD. Great job Melanie!

Cheers,

Todd

Melanie, You did it!!!!

So, to export from DropBox, you first make the file a favorite.

Here are the steps I took with Melanie's guidance:

1. Double tap the mp3 in DropBox and it will play;

2. flick to Add to Favorites and double tap. Then the button changes to Remove from Favorites, so you know you have added the file as a Favorite correctly.

3. Let file continue to play 3-5 minutes. Then look at the Export button. It is no longer dimmed.

4. Double tap the Export Button.

5. Flick through your apps that can play MP#3 files till you come to the one you want, in my case, Speed Up.

6. Double tap the app you want to export to.

7. After a second, the file stops playing in the native app and starts over in Speed up.

I am so so so happy!!!!

Thanks to Melanie and all.

I am going to share this with the ViPhone list because some folks there have been trying to figure this out as well.

Melanie, you are phenomenal -- though we already knew that (smile)!

Hi Terrie,

Try letting it run in Dropbox for a few minutes and marking it as a favorite This should cause the export button to be usable. Let me know if it works!

Melanie and all,

I was too optimistic. I just tried this: double tap an mp3 file in DropBox. I have an export button in the bottom right, but it is dimmed, not active, and tapping it does nothing.

HELP!!!!!!

Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this.

Why is my Export button dimmed and Melanie's is not (smile)! I want my Export button to be active!

Thanks to all very much.

Best,

Terrie Terlau

Hi Terrie,

I do this often also. When you open the file and it starts playing, there will be a button on the bottom right where you can open the file oin other apps. When you select it you should see the other apps you can use. I do this to import books and audio into downcast. Hope this helps.

Hi all,

What a nice convention! I am writing in hopes that one of you may have an answer to the following.

When I double tap an MP3 book file in DropBox in the IPhone, it seems to open in the native iPhone app. I want to open it in another app, but can’t figure out how to do so. Still running IOS 6. Does anyone have any wisdom they could share?

Thanks.
