I'm happy to report that St. Matthews Community Pharmacy now offers the ScripTalk and ScripView service for anyone upon request. Details, and my original message, are below. Please join me in thanking the owner and pharmacist, Chris Harlow, (and his assistant Kerry) for bringing accessibility to their Louisville pharmacy!

Hi friends:

The staff at St. Matthews Community Pharmacy here in Louisville are considering purchasing ScripTalk software, on the heels of CVS' announcement to offer the service for mail order prescriptions. This would make St. Matthews Community Pharmacy the only drugstore in Louisville to offer labels that are accessible to those of us who cannot read standard print (due to blindness, learning disability, dyslexia, etc.).

ScripTalk offers two services. One is via a barcode that you scan with a free iPhone/iPad app...the other is with an RFID chip embedded in the bottle that you'd swipe over a little box (about the size of an answering machine). Both of these solutions are at no cost to us as consumers; it's just a matter of preference.

So, if you live in the greater St. Matthews area, please contact Chris Harlow (information below) about your interest. By the way, they deliver medications (and anything else you need from their store) for just a few dollars. (He did say, too, that he'd be willing to expand that delivery area if needed on a case-by-case basis.) Also, they do in-store compounding, so if any of your (or your child's) medications need that, it's done in-house. Plus, they're just wonderful people.
