Subject: [Nfbk] Chili Supper/ Auction

Hi everyone,

As I'm sure you all know we are now less than two months away from the chili supper/auction, that means we all need to be working extra hard to get donations! Remember, we really want to be able to help send people to national convention this summer, we can't do that unless everyone works really hard to get donations.

I am attaching our donation letter in case any of you need it to email businesses or need to print out a copy to have on hand. I'm also including a broad list of business types that everyone can contact. The list is by no means extensive, but it should give you a good idea of where to start. If you want to contact places, but you need a more detailed list of suggested places to contact let me know.

Also, if you could contact me after you get items that would be greatly appreciated it! It's helpful for me to know what all we have early on and I can start putting our auction list together/grouping items if needed so it saves me some time closer to the actual event.

Places to Contact
- Anywhere local- Louisville has amazing local/small businesses throughout the city that are more than willing to donate items in order to get publicity. One of the easiest things you can do is print out several letters and go on a walk around your neighborhood handing out our donation letter and telling people about the event. NuLu, the Highlands, Clifton, and south Louisville all would be great places to start.
- Restaurants- Simply hand your waitress/hostess our donation letter when you're out to eat with your friends and family.
-Dentists/Eye doctors/Chiropractors- A lot of these places run promotions and can donate teeth whitening packages, lasik/glasses, or free alignments
-Salons/hair- Massage packages, hair cuts, beauty supplies, manicures are all good items.
-Transportation- I was specifically thinking limo services since prom season will be coming up, but I'm sure any type of transportation voucher would work or Tarc tickets
-Recreation activities- Hot air balloon rides, indoor trampolines, put-put golf, movie theaters, bowling, skating, etc...
-Big box stores/Grocery stores- I don't think you can ask at the mall but anything else should be fair game. We all live in different parts of Louisville so hit up the Target/Walmart/Kroger/KMart that is closest to you. Simply go to their customer service desk while you're there.
-Cleaning services- Maids, carpet cleaning, air duct cleaning companies
-Hotels
-Any type of technology- If you know someone that refurbishes technology see if they have anything they can donate or if you're upgrading your personal technology and the old item is still in good shape we could certainly use it!
-Any other item you have that is either in very good shape or new- Let's see you get a waffle iron for Christmas, but you already have one that works just fine, hold on to the new one! We can use it for the auction!

Thanks,
Katie
