Who:                     Staff involved in the transition process, VI
Teachers, Students and their Families.



There will be opening and closing main sessions as well as breakout
sessions on a variety of topics specific to transition and the blind and
visually impaired.  The conference will be free and open to the public.
Breakout Sessions will cover  Advocacy, Social Security and Working, The
Role of Work Experience, the IEP and ILP and supported employment.
Consumers will share their successive stories  and a panel of employers
will share what they are looking for in candidates.  More details to follow
on the registration process as well as an agenda for the conference.

*Keynote Speaker:* Luis Pérez considers himself an Inclusive Learning
Evangelist: his mission is to  help educators create more inclusive
learning environments for all students through the implementation of
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, the selection of
appropriate assistive technology for those students who need it to overcome
barriers to learning, and the authoring of accessible content. Luis
received his M. Ed. in instructional technology and a doctorate in special
education from the University of South Florida. While at USF, Luis worked
with the Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) to develop Tech
Ease for All, a collection of free assistive technology and web
accessibility tutorials for teachers. He was also a technology integration
specialist with the Laptop Initiative and iTeach, two programs that provide
technology integration assistance to pre-service educators. In recognition
of his accomplishments in the field of educational technology, Luis was
selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) in 2009. He is currently
on the Advisory Board for the ADE program in the U.S. and he is also a
board member of the Special Education Technology Special Interest Group
(SETSIG) of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
Luis is the author of Mobile Learning for All: Supporting Accessibility
with the iPad, from Corwin Press. His work has also appeared in the Journal
of Special Education Technology, Teaching Exceptional Children, Closing the
Gap Solutions, THE Journal, The Loop Magazine, and the National Federation
of the Blind’s Future Reflections magazine.



*Closing Session Speaker:*  Chris Groeber, is the CEO at Key Assets
Kentucky, an innovative program development that produces outcomes in child
welfare.   He holds a MSW in Social Work from the University of Kentucky.
Mr. Groeber was a Training Specialist at Eastern Kentucky University for
fifteen years.   He believes in transforming vision into actual
programmatic changes is key to  successful cultural metamorphosis.   Mr.
Groeber  has a passion for life and being a positive influence on others
because people matter.   He will challenge and motivate us to be the best
that we can in whatever direction life takes us.
