Dear Colleagues,

At the fall conference in Seattle, you heard me introduce our first-ever Business Venture Competition exclusively for people who are blind or visually impaired. Participants can win a cash award of up to $10,000 to put towards the launch of a new business. We are now accepting applications for the competition. Winners will be awarded in May, 2016 in Chicago! The announcement is below. Please share this announcement and help us spread the word about this exciting opportunity to vocational rehabilitation counselors and business consultants within your agency. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2016. Participants must be Hadley students, but only need to be enrolled in one business course to be eligible. Please direct all questions relating to the competition to Colleen Wunderlich, Director, Forsythe Center for Employment and Entrepreneurship at: 847-784-2889 or colleen at hadley.edu.

Thank you,
Chuck Young, President

Through this business education program, Hadley, the largest provider of distance education to people who are blind and visually impaired worldwide, offers tuition-free courses to help prepare students for employment and entrepreneurship. In the spirit of ABC’s hit show, Shark Tank, Hadley is inviting new, current or recent Forsythe Center students to submit their plans for a start up for a chance to win one of three cash awards for up to $10,000. Entrants must have enrolled in at least one FCE module for consideration of their business plan. However, it’s not too late to become an FCE student and participate in the competition. New FCE students must provide proof of legal blindness from a physician before enrolling in an FCE course. Participation and submission rules can be found at hadley.edu/NVC <http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=20128017&msgid=799370&act=3TIX&c=225701&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fhadley.edu%2Fnvc> .
