Subject: U.S. DOL Launches Tool to Address Accessibility of Online Job
Applications

The announcement below is from the Partnership on Employment & Accessible
Technology. In cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of
Disability Employment Policy, the Partnership has developed a free online
tool to help employers make their online application processes accessible to
people with disabilities.

Here is the announcement:

Good day.

I hope this e-mail finds you well. I'm writing to share some news that may
interest your readers. This week, the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of
Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) announced the launch of TalentWorks
(PEATWorks.org/TalentWorks <http://www.peatworks.org/talentworks> )-a free
online tool for employers and human resources (HR) professionals that helps
them ensure their online job applications and other eRecruiting technologies
are accessible to job seekers with disabilities.

As you may know, inaccessible online recruiting technology is preventing
many people with disabilities from applying for and interviewing for jobs,
and causing employers to miss out on potentially great hires. In fact, in a
recent national survey
<http://peatworks.org/content/erecruiting-accessibility-report> of people
with disabilities conducted by PEAT, 46% of respondents rated their last
experience applying for a job online as "difficult to impossible."

It's an issue that many employers are paying more attention to, because if
one's online job advertisements, applications, screening tools, and digital
interviewing applications are not accessible to those with disabilities,
they are effectively excluding certain individuals from applying for jobs at
their company. This can expose them to legal risk
<http://www.peatworks.org/talentworks/erecruiting-accessibility/policy> ,
and more importantly, it limits the pool of talent they'll be able to
consider for open positions.

These realities prompted PEAT to develop TalentWorks, which provides general
background on accessibility and eRecruiting, as well as practical tip sheets
for making online job applications, digital interviews, pre-employment tests
and resume upload programs accessible.

We'd be delighted to tell you more about TalentWorks, and connect you with
spokespeople who can speak to their own experiences with accessibility and
eRecruiting.

Please see the press release

contact me if you'd like to learn more at eladau at conceptscommunications.com
or 631-943-8822. Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Emily Ladau
