> Subject: Auditions for Braille Readers Theater
>
> Hello Museum Friends,
>
> Below I’ve pasted information about auditions for Braille Readers Theater, which will take palce the second weekend in December. This year we’re performing a selection of short plays, each 10-20 minutes in length. This is a good opportunity for aspiring actors who have not been involved in Braille Readers Theater before, as Braille reading ability is not essential and commitment to all three nights is not necessary.
> Can you pass this information along to people you know who might be interested? Thanks.

> MUSEUM TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR BRAILLE READER’S THEATER PRODUCTION OF IT’S ALL IN THE TIMING.
>
> The Museum of the American Printing House for the Blind will hold auditions for its Braille Readers Theater production of David Ives’s It’s All in the Timing, to be presented March 16-18, 2017.
>
> Auditions will take place in the Museum Reception Room at 1839 Frankfort Avenue on Thursday, December 8, 4-6 p.m., Friday, December 9, at 11 - 1 p.m., and Saturday, December 10, 1-3 p.m.
>
> David Ives is a contemporary playwright, currently working with Steven Sondheim on a new musical. It’s All in the Timing is a collection of his short comedic plays, all of which constitute a virtual stress test of the English language – and the audience’s capacity for confusion and delight. In the most well-known, Sure Thing, two people meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love. In Words, Words, Words chimps named Milton, Swift, and Kafka are locked in a room with three typewriters for infinity -- or until they re-create Hamlet. And In “Universal Language,” a con man peddles education classes in a dubious language in which “hello” translates as “Velcro” and “fraud” comes out as “freud.”
> This is the sixth season for the Museum’s Braille Readers Theater. Past productions have included Much Ado About Nothing, The Miracle Worker, the Curious Savage, and The Mousetrap.
>
> The cast will meet for a read-through shortly after parts are assigned. Rehearsals will take place beginning in the middle of January. For more information, contact Katie Carpenter at kcarpenter at aph.org or 899-2213.
