On a different list, I read about an accessible tv.  Here's the info I glimpsed, slightly edited:

There's an accessible tv!!  It's Samsung UN32J550AFXZA. Less than 300 dollars at bestbuy and 32 inches!  Here is the link to a demo:

Under federal law in the United States, tv's must necessarily be made accessible for the blind and starting from about December 31, 2016!  Samsung appears to be getting an early jump on compliance with the new directive, but we'll see how "accessible" is defined overtime.
