Good Afternoon. All,
This call to action is urgent and is in regard to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (HR 1). This bill was introduced in the House of Representatives Last week. Beginning in tax year 2018 this bill will repeal the standard deduction for blind persons valued at $6,350 for tax year 2017. Please call your representative and urge him or her to maintain this critical tax deduction. The House Ways and Means Committer has already begun mark up on this bill. You can reach your Representative by calling the Capital Hill switchboard at 202-224-3121 and asking to be transferred. Emailing your Rep is also a good idea. Please copy John Pare at our National Center on any emails sent at jpare at nfb.org.
