> MUSEUM TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR BRAILLE READER’S THEATER PRODUCTION OF MOLIERE’S THE DOCTOR IN SPITE OF HIMSELF

> The Museum of the American Printing House for the Blind will hold auditions for its Braille Readers Theater production of The Doctor In Spite of Himself, a farce by the French playwright Moliere. Performances will be March 15, 6:30-7:30; March 16, 7:00-9:00, and Saturday, March 17, 1-3 pm.

> Auditions will take place in the Museum Reception Room at 1839 Frankfort Avenue on Thursday, December 7, 11-1 p.m., Friday, December 8, 1-3 p.m., and Saturday, December 10, 1-3 p.m.  Auditioners should be prepared to spend about a half hour during the audition time slot.

> Although Moliere wrote for the seventeenth century court of Louis XIV, the Sun King of France, his plays still pack a comic punch, inviting comparisons to comic genius from the Marx Brothers to Saturday Night Live sketches.  The Doctor In Spite Of Himself is Moliere’s scalpel-sharp satire of the medical profession. He pokes fun at quacks and miracle cures and the arrogance of doctors, and the barbs remain relevant in today’s world of Obamacare and HMOs.
