This is making me extremely glad!

An 8-year-old Louisville, Kentucky, girl who has been blind since
birth can now call herself a National Braille Challenge champion--the
best Braille reader and writer in her age group in the entire country.
Carmynn Blakeley, a mainstreamed student at Breckenridge Franklin
Elementary, won first place in the competition in Los Angeles this
spring. Fifty students from the United States and Canada participated
in the national competition, and Carmynn came home with first place in
the apprentice category, which includes first and second graders. "I'm
one proud mama," said Rebecca Brown. There is no world braille
competition, so this is the end of the road this year. But Carmynn
plans to work hard next year to go back to Los Angeles on a quest to
win a second title.
