[Nfbk] NFBK Digest, Vol 111, Issue 8

Hey Levi,
Do these restaurants have any requirements on ordering food? I personally do not see it as very fair for members to have to pick an entrée every month to come to a chapter meeting. As we already said on Facebook, me or Scott will be recording the meeting and will post it to either the Facebook group or on this list serve, do you have any other suggestions as to how we can be more accessible to those farther from where we meet?

To my knowledge, we do not currently have a pool of sighted drivers that we can use for providing transportation. Those of us that attend the meeting use TARC. I believe there is only one sighted spouse that attends meetings and he has a job so I am pretty sure there is not enough time for him to pick anyone up before the meeting. At one time, I am not sure if they still have meetings, but we had an at large chapter and they met by phone so that people not close enough to a chapter still knew what is going on and had support and fellowship.

I’m not trying compare one chapter to another but that chapter seemed a lot more welcoming. I don’t get that vibe from you guys. Here I am out in the middle of nowhere with limited resources and as an NFB FAMILY I don’t feel like there is much help or much being done. It’s very disappointing.

Maybe I was spoiled in the Jacksonville Florida chapter, but everything being so wonderful. I just feel like a lot more could be done. Maybe like an out reach program or something like that. Because Louisville does have several surrounding areas.
