Good Morning,
We really need to be making a push to get our Parent’s Rights Bill passes.
The Chair of the Health and Family Services Committee is Kim Moser. I would
like for each and everyone of us to email and or call her asking her to
support HB 172, An Act Relating to Preserving Families that Include a
Parent Who is Blind. This bill will protect our rights as blind parents in
custody cases, adoptions, and social services disputed. The person or
agency bring the charges must prove that the blind parent is not capable of
raising the child or children. It will no longer automatically be assumed
that we lack parenting skills. I would also encourage you to contact your
state representative and urge him or her to support HB 172. Be sure to tell
them you are a member of the National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky.
Have your family and friends join us in our campaign.
Kim Moser’s email is, Kimberly.moser at lrc.ky.gov. Her phone number is,
502-564-8100. This is a central number so you will have to ask to be
connected to her office.
If you do not know who
your representative is you can go to, lrc.state.ky.us. Welcome to
Legislative Research Committee will come up. Click on Legislators. You can
also call the 502-564-8100 number.
I appreciate your helping with this important piece of legislation.
Cathy
