released on Thursday, March 24, will provide a comprehensive picture of

level. The US Dept. of Agriculture defines food insecurity as
"limited or uncertain access to nutritious, safe foods necessary to lead a
healthy lifestyle; households that experience food insecurity have reduced
quality or variety of meals and may have irregular food intake." The
report will paint a picture of food insecurity in greater Louisville counties-
as defined by the gap in meals people can access and those that they need- as
well as the food budget shortfall for individuals at risk of
hunger. Our lack of affordable housing greatly contributes to
this meal gap, as households often have to choose between paying for food and
housing costs. Dare to Care will provide an overview of the local Map the
Gap results and ways our community can meet the challenge posed by our
