I was in contact with Bill Penrod during spring
break. He had just recently heard the news that Dr.
Hilda Caton had passed away last summer.
Dr. Caton (June 27, 1933 - July 22, 2011) was 78
years old and had been living in Pensacola Florida. The old timers in
the vision department knew her as our instructor for our vision classes at the
University of Louisville. New people should know that she worked
at APH and was the primary researcher and
developer of the old Patterns Braille Reading Program that is being transformed
into the new Building on Patterns series. Bill had wanted the news
to be shared at KAER but it was not.
