extremely disappointed that all but two of the Kentucky Center for the Arts
described performances are matinees. Matinees are typically performed by the B
cast and often shortened. Do they think that the blind do not know the
difference? And only one performance out of the whole run is described? This is
the second year that I have encountered this. </FONT></SPAN></DIV>

going to see the Nutcracker most years, and found out how much more I enjoyed it
the first time I had audio description for a performance (a Saturday night). The
next year, description was only offered at a matinee. Both I and the sighted
people that went with me were very disappointed with the B cast and abbreviated
format. Last year, due to medical issues in our family, we were late in deciding
that we could make a performance. It was unanimous that we did NOT want a
matinee, and I discovered that we had already missed the performance that was
described, but it was only a matinee so we would not have chosen it
anyway.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

enjoy matinees, that fine, but I have a friend that majored in theatre in
college and worked as an asm so I have had a lot of experience with seeing both
versions of a performance and my preference is definitely evening performances
that are NOT opening night. It is such a shame that when a service is offered,
it is then taken away and you are left with substandard
choices.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
