The first topic Melany brought up was the possibility of selling scented candles as a fund raiser. We would purchase the candles for $2.50 each, and would sell them for $5-$7 each. We agreed that this could be a good project, and Katy suggested we consider starting it in the fall before Halloween when people may be purchasing Christmas gifts. We agreed to make further plans at the next meeting of the board in May.
3. Melany told us about an upcoming meeting called Breaking Down Barriers Spotlight to be held on Monday May 20 at the Bates Memorial Baptist Church, 620 e. Lampton St. Louisville. We agreed to pay $20 to rent a booth for NFBGL, Melany and Tressie will be representing us there.
4. Next, we discussed our May meeting. We decided to have it on May18, a Saturday, from 1-3 p.m. melany is checking on availability of KSB. We will be talking about NFB philosophy and history, Katy, Tressie and Maria will be researching videos and speeches from our National office for relevant information to share with the group. We also may present various cenarios for group participation in handling dealing with issues that arise from the public and service offices in ignorance and misunderstanding concerning blindness. The board will continue bringing snacks and drinks for the monthly group meetings. Maria will give a short treasurer's report each month, and Cindy will read the minutes of the previous month's meeting. Cindy will also keep track of who attends each meeting, so we can contact old members we haven't seen, and welcome and encourage new people.
. Lastly, Melany invited the board to her house for dinner for our May Board meeting. We decided May 25 would fit everyone's schedule, and we will arrive at 4 p.m. and the meeting will last until 7 p.m. Thanks to our President for having us all in her home for dinner!
This board meeting adjourned at 10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted by,

Cindy Smith, Secretary, NFBGL

--
You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NFBGL Board of Directors" group.
To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an email to nfbglboard+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com.
For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out.

_______________________________________________
Nfbk mailing list
Nfbk@nfbnet.org
http://nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/nfbk_nfbnet.org
To unsubscribe, change your list options or get your account info for Nfbk:
http://nfbnet.org/mailman/options/nfbk_nfbnet.org/cindy.smith8109%40aol.com
