The new law keeps RSA in the US Department of Education, keeps the RSA Commissioner as a Presidential Appointed position and brings new focus on Transition Age Services. The one major downfall of the Act is the CSPD section (Comprehensive System of Personnel Development) in which a more general degree area was allowed, i.e. Degree in Business instead of Rehabilitation Counseling. If WIOA follows suit of the 1998 WIA it took three years to actually get the federal regulations out. So, there will not be any immediate changes but you can expect training in the areas our agency will need to change to meet the letter of the law. Also, remember WIOA is more than just the rehabilitation act which is title IV. The other titles deal with the Employment Services side (OET and Career Centers and WIBs) and there will be training for all our Workforce Partners surrounding the changes in the law that apply to all of us.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>As always if you have questions don’t hesitate to contact me.
