<P class=MsoNormal>Aspiring playwrights who are blind or visually impaired have
the opportunity this fall to write a play to be produced by the Museum’s Braille
Readers Theater group.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p></o:p> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>In the past three years, the group has presented a classic
play, a play by William Shakespeare, and a modern farce. Play selection is
always difficult, so why not commission a play that addresses the strengths of
the group?<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p></o:p> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>To develop new plays, the Museum is sponsoring a series of
playwriting workshops to be taught by Constance Alexander, an award-winning
playwriting, fiction and nonfiction writer.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p></o:p> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Each workshop builds on work done in the previous workshops
so while attendance at all three workshops is not mandatory, it is
recommended.<o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p></o:p> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Also, on September 13, New York based playwright Leona Godin
will visit the Museum to share excerpts from her plays and discuss the process
she follows for writing plays. Ms. Godin’s visit is part of the Museum’ Bards
& Storytellers series. <o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><o:p></o:p> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal>The writing workshops are scheduled for September 27, October
25, and November 22, all from 12:30 to 3:30 in the museum. There is no
cost for participation.<o:p></o:p></P>

<P class=MsoNormal>Selected plays will be produced at the Museum’s New Play
Festival in March of 2015.<o:p></o:p></P>
