<p class="MsoNormal">Students develop proficiency in reading and writing the Unified English Braille code using the slate & stylus and the Perkins braillewriter.

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>One 3-day weekend (same time as EDCI 466/EDUC 489C weekend) will be face-to-face training in Ruston, LA February 27 - March 1. If you cannot attend this weekend in Ruston, you cannot take the course.</b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Expands students' knowledge of braille through knowledge of Nemeth (math and science) and computer braille codes while increasing students' proficiency in reading, transcribing and proofreading literary braille (UEB). Increase knowledge
of making and teaching tactile graphics. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Students become familiar with adaptive technology for people who are blind/visually impaired, including equipment, academic/functional/personal uses, assessments, laws, and resources. Students receive hands-on experience using adaptive
technology equipment, performing assessments, and writing reports and IEP goals. Students receive information on AT resources, materials, websites, publications, trainings, and vendors.
