This is a terrific accomplishment. While we were advocating to make the Medicare telehealth benefits permanent, we now have six months to continue our advocacy on this topic.

Another of our legislative priorities where we need to imminently focus our advocacy is the Access Technology Affordability Act (H.R. 1529). As a reminder the Access Technology Affordability Act (ATAA) will create a $2,000 refundable tax credit for the purchase of qualified access technology for the blind. We have been meeting with a number of high-ranking Congressional offices regarding ATAA being included in an upcoming tax package, and we keep hearing the same feedback: get more cosponsor support. This is, of course, where you come in. We need you to contact your Representatives in the House and ask them to cosponsor the Access Technology Affordability Act (H.R. 1529). When you speak to the office be sure to mention that Mathematica has provided a dynamic score for the bill and they estimate it will save the federal government $315 million over five years.

When you call or email, you might say the following:

"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME], and I am a constituent of [REPRESENTATIVE NAME]. I live in [CITY, STATE]. I would like to urge [REPRESENTATIVE NAME] to cosponsor Access Technology Affordability Act, H.R. 1529. This bill will institute a refundable tax credit for the purchase of qualified access technology for the blind. A recent report created by Mathematica indicates that the passage of the Access Technology Affordability Act will actually save the government money, approximately $315 million over five years, by increasing employment for blind Americans, thereby decreasing the need for us to receive government benefits while contributing more in taxes.

Thanks."

A current list of cosponsors is below. We have also attached a contact list of House offices, sorted by state, to this email, but if you have any questions on office contacts, please contact Lindsey Walsh at lwalsh@nfb.org. If you contact your representative via email, please copy Jesse Shirek at jshirek@nfb.org.
