[NFBKTAD] Newspaper Obituaries

Actually, with some papers, the problem goes deeper than obibuaries.
We don’t get a complete Courier-Journal that is comparable to the print edition. What we get is more like a news feed. We get most of the contents, but one has to look several times a day to get it. The New York Times seems to be relatively complete.

Thank you for sharing, Cindy. Yes, I’ve heard this from others about the extremely limited obit information.
I’ll look into this as soon as I can.

I think newsline is on the fritz. I never know what issues I am going to get and they have even disappeared if I stopped reading before finishing and tried to come back.
I use a Victor Stream but problems have also been reported over on the Brialliant BI X list so it is not device specific.
As a rule, I always read the paper a day behind so I know that there are no more updates coming to the issue. I am also consistantly seeing a problem in which days papers I have. Supposedly, with newsline you are supposed to have the current issue and the previous two issues for newspapers (today, yesterday, and the day before yesterday). I consistently will have todays maybe yesterdays and then either no other issue or it gets stuck on a particular issue for close to a week.
Ninety-nine percent of the obituaries I get are only names. If they say anything else, most of the time it is to send flowers or post a memory. Maybe one percent of the time I get the actual obituary. For a couple of weeks I had full obituaries for a third of the names listed for that day.

For several weeks there have been no obituaries in the South Bend Tribune. I’d like to know when this is going to be fixed? I know that if you check early in the day and then check at night there are going to be more obituaries.

With NFB Newsline, it depends on what time of day you check, to a certain extent. NFB Newsline gets most of its content via RSS feeds and they take time. So, there are likely to be more obituaries in the evening than in the morning.

Hello, Todd,
I can read the obituaries in the Courier-Journal, but I notice that the number of them varies considerably. Sometimes, there are a whole bunch; sometimes, just a few.

Good Evening:
I’ve had a number of complaints about the obituaries in our state in recent times, and I wanted to see how many were having an issue with the section of their respective newspapers.
If this applies to you, please include the newspaper or newspapers in your comments, if you please. We’ll take the comments about Obits in other states as well.
Thank you,
Todd
