Subject: How do you make picture book reading accessible?
Hi Todd,
My name is Cameron Cassidy. I’m a legally blind PhD student at the University of California, Irvine, studying technologies that support shared picture book reading between adults and children when one is blind and the other is sighted.
Over the next few weeks, as part of a <https://www.nsf.gov/funding/initiatives/i-corps/about-i-corps> National Science Foundation I-Corps program, we are aiming to speak with 100 parents of young children within the blind and low vision community. We want to chat with them for 15 minutes about how they find, evaluate, and adopt technologies (e.g., print-braille books, audiobooks) to meet their co-reading needs. We're now 70% of the way to our goal... and running out of time!
Could you help us spread the word amongst the Technology Assistance Division? You’re welcome to direct people to book <https://calendar.app.google/Yrr6dT3B4GwSN7Hz8> through Google Calendar to schedule (preferred, since 100 interviews is a lot of scheduling) or email me. Of course, if our work is relevant to you, feel welcome to chat with us as well!
Our research lab usually pays by the hour for the expertise of those who are blind. However, as required by the NSF I-Corps program, we are not permitted to do so for these 15-minute chats.
Thank you,
Cameron Cassidy
