My first library career was as a reference/government documents librarian at the University of Alabama. My second career began in 1998 when I joined the LBPH family as a collection management librarian and later became library director. It is now time for me to leave my library careers and begin a new phase in my life. I will retire from LBPH on April 30, 2012 to spend time with my family and to pursue personal interests.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>I have had the good fortune to be part of the library’s great transition to a digital service and see the library grow into a true community, boasting many cultural and educational programs, a technology user group, the Maryland Accessible Textbook Program, the Adaptive Technology Education Program, the June H. Kleeman Children’s Reading Center, and a new digital/duplication studio. The library is active and vibrant with staff going into the community to talk about our services, with youth programs, and with partnerships with major community organizations.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt'><span style='font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>It has been an honor for me to lead the library, to be part of an outstanding staff, and to work with the dedicated and successful Friends Board and Advisory Council.
