of Federal Hill, passes through the scenic Baltimore Inner Harbor pavilion, then returns to the Jernigan Institute for the finish. It is a fun, healthy way to make a tremendous difference in the lives of blind people.

<p class="MsoNormal">We chose a 6K because Braille is the raised dot reading and writing medium used by the blind, where one Braille cell is composed of six raised dots. Braille is the primary literacy tool used by blind people, and literacy is the fundamental
building block for success. Research has shown that blind people who know and use Braille have higher rates of employment, self-confidence, and general social integration.
<b>Yet only ten percent of blind children are receiving instruction in Braille in public schools.</b> In order to break this cycle of illiteracy, we need to establish stronger literacy programs and train more qualified education professionals. With your assistance,
we can continue to conduct the outreach, education, and fundraising necessary to end the “Braille Literacy Crisis.”
