Hi Everyone,

The researchers at the Neuroplasticity and Development Lab at Johns Hopkins University have requested the posting of the following announcement to solicit the participation of blind adults in a research study they are currently conducting.
Please read the below announcement for additional information.

<span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The Neuroplasticity and Development Lab at Johns Hopkins University is seeking participants for MRI research studies on cognition.
The purpose of this research is to investigate how the brain adapts to the absence of vision. We use neuroimaging to compare the brains of individuals with different life histories: adults who grew up with vision, those who were born
blind, and those who became blind later in life.

<span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Participating in this research involves having an MRI scan. During the scan participants listen to speech and other sounds and answer
questions about what they hear. The studies typically last between 1 and 3 hours and participants are compensated $30 per hour for their time. The studies take place at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Travel costs to and from the study site are
covered by the laboratory. At present we are seeking participants from the Baltimore, Washington DC and Philadelphia areas.

<span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">To qualify for these studies you must be a healthy blind adult between 18 and 75 years-of-age. Before taking part in a study, participants
are asked to complete a pre-screening interview over the phone to see whether they qualify. The screening interview takes approximately 30 minutes and those who take part receive a $15 Amazon gift card as compensation.

<span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">To learn more, please contact the lab either by calling (410) 870-9895 or emailing
