The Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, in
partnership with the League of Women Voters of Maryland and the Maryland
State Board of Elections, is hosting an evening teleconference focused on
basics and voting accessibility. The event will take place on August 21, at
6:00 PM. This program will be held via teleconference.

Voting, in its essence, is the ability of an individual to make their voice
heard. When you cast a vote, you’re making your needs and values known to
the leaders of various social groups, the local city, county, and the
federal government. But do you know why primary elections are just as
important as general elections? Do you know what your rights are as they
pertain to accessibility?

The League of Women Voters of Maryland and the Maryland State Board of
Elections have always worked to share the basics of voting and voting
rights to Marylanders. This forty minute discussion will cover the basics
of voting – including but not limited to what the voting process is, how
your vote translates to the election of a candidate, and standard terms to
know; the second half of the program will focus on voting accessibility –
including but not limited to accessible voting booths and your rights for
accessible voting.

This program is FREE and open to all Marylanders. The program is being held
via conference call and is accessible via telephone only. Program details
are as follows:
