[NFBMDTLC-Chapter] Urgent: Calling on Federationists from Baltimore City and Baltimore County to Email Maryland Delegates About Our Education Bill

Dear Colleagues in the Federation,

We need your help to pass the Accountability Act for Accessible K-12
Education.  If you have not done so already and you live in Baltimore City
or Baltimore County, please email  the Maryland Delegates listed below. If
you would like more background on this legislation, please refer to the
attached factsheet. 

The Senate version of the bill (SB617) has already passed out of committee.
The House vote will occur some time this week, so please get your emails out
as soon as possible.

Tell the Delegates that HB0547 will make the local school system, the
Maryland State Department of Education, and vendors accountable for
providing accessible information and communication technology to students
with disabilities. Accessibility has been the law for many years, but it is
not enforced. This bill will not only enforce accessibility, but will also
give students with disabilities the possibility of receiving a quality
education. 

The House Ways and Means Committee  hearing for HB0547 was held on February
24. Please get your letters in by February 28.
