[nfbmi-talk] voting fiasco!

Pauline,
For your and anyone else's future reference, there is a button to turn off
the screen. That's the first thing I did.
That being said, ours was set up in a place where anyone could see the
screen. I think there needs to be a curtain or something to block the
machines.

Hello,

I was excited to learn that my local polling place finally had the Auto
Mark machine. However, when I used it yesterday, the election worker
kept interfering. He wouldn't give me a chance to get familiar with the
buttons and other workings of the machine. When it took too long for
his taste, he insisted on reading me the ballot and helping me place my
finger on the touch screen in the appropriate place for my choice. This
was somewhat frustrating. In fact, when it got down to the proposals
and community college millage, the speech finished reading before he was
done. I knew what choice I wanted long before the worker stopped
reading. He spoiled what could have been a truly liberating experience
for me. Terri, I'm sorry you and Nick had such trouble voting. How
discouraging.

Pauline
