September 8 MCB Consumer Involvement Council Meeting, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00
p.m., Victor Building, second floor conference room, 201 N. Washington
Square, Lansing.  To participate by teleconference, call 877-873-8017 and
enter passcode number 5167756.  The CIC, made up of representatives from
organized consumer groups and current agency clients provides formal
consumer input to the Commission for the Blind Board.  For more information,

September 17      MCB Image & Identity Team Meeting, 9 a.m. to noon,
Conference Room F, Third Floor, Victor Building, 201 N. Washington Square,
Lansing.  To participate by teleconference, call 877-873-8017 and enter
passcode 7502991. This group focuses on ways to increase awareness of the
Michigan Commission for the Blind and its programs and services, such as
through collaboration with other organizations, publications, the MCB
website, media, community events, and more. The committee is open to anyone
who would like to participate, including MCB staff, consumers, community
partners, and others interested in these topics. For more information,

September 17      Capital Area Michigan Works! Fall Job Expo at the Lansing
Center Ballroom, 333 East Michigan Avenue, in Lansing, 2:30-6:00 p.m. MCB
will have a booth at this event to provide information about MCB services
for employers and consumers, as well as to provide information about
opportunities in the field of blind rehabilitation. Contact Susan Turney at

September 18 (Friday)   MCB Commission Meeting, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in
Marquette at the Landmark Inn, 230 North Front Street, and audio streamed
live on the MCB website at www.michigan.gov/mcb.  For more information,

October 7-8 Michigan Optometric Association 41st Annual Fall Seminar at the
Lansing Center in Lansing.  MCB will host a booth at this event to provide
optometrists with information on MCB services to share with their low-vision
patients.  For more information on MCB's participation at this event,

October 8-11      Michigan Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired
(MCBVI) 36th Annual Convention, October 8-11, 2009, at the Howard Johnson
Plaza Hotel, 255 28th Street SW, in Wyoming (near Grand Rapids). For more

October 13  MCB Service Delivery Design Team Meeting, SILC Offices, 417
Seymour Street, Lansing, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  The Service Delivery Design
Team meets to discuss MCB services and improve delivery of quality services.
The group comprises MCB staff, consumers and other partners.  The meetings
are open to all who wish to participate.  To participate by teleconference,

October 28  MCB Cultural Diversity Team Meeting (rescheduled) in Kalamazoo
at the MCB Training Center, 1541 Oakland Drive, and by teleconference from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This committee works to ensure that MCB services are
available to all eligible individuals in Michigan's diverse population. All
MCB staff, partners, and stakeholders are welcome to participate on the
committee, and the committee is seeking new members. To participate by

November 6-8      National Federation of the Blind of  Michigan (NFBMI)
State Convention at the Radisson Hotel Grand Rapids Riverfront.  Details

November 15-20    MCB Mini Adjustment Program in Grand Rapids.  This
weeklong event will provide MCB clients with training in a variety of skills
of blindness, e.g., cane travel, Braille, adaptive kitchen skills, dealing
with time and money, and adaptive computer technology.  For more
