KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thursday saw new developments in a woman's fight
to keep her job at Kalamazoo's Blind Training Center after letting student fire guns
at a shooting range.
Now, it looks like a state board has decided to not allow Christine Boone to return
to her job.
This is a story that Newschannel 3 has been following from the beginning. It's a
controversy that had Boone's supporters fired up enough to make the trip from Kalamazoo
to Lansing to make their feelings known, but it's Boone who is in the hot seat.
Boone signed off on a marksmanship class for students at the Blind Training Center.
The problem is that guns aren't allowed on state property. Because of that, state
officials put Boone on administrative leave.
Boone's supporters say she did nothing wrong. They're accusing higher-ups of throwing
Boone under the bus because they gave the okay for the class.
On Thursday, state leaders held a disciplinary hearing.
Someone with the local Federation of the Blind called Newschannel 3 on Thursday,
and said officials have decided not to reinstate Boone. Newschannel 3 is working
to confirm that.

More to come, I'm sure.
