Hi Joe,

Boy, I am surprised. Maybe they will conduct some type of training for the
staff??

You all know that the resource facilities for the remnant of what is the
"school for the blind" on that campus is already scheduled to be moved to
the state library in Lansing?

In addition it appears by reports that the temporary digs for the MCB
Training center are still not formalized. Yet, the MCB TC is sceduled to be
closed from Thanksgiving break through December.

The year long temporary hotel that is in receivership and where the MCB TC
will be relocated while the current facility is to be upgraded has not been
approved for sale yet by the bancruptcy judge.

Regardless there will be no rehab going on in any residential facility for
at least five weeks starting at the Thanksgiving break.

I don't know why better foreplanning didn't occur in order to avoid delays
in services. but there you have it.

Hi Joe,

In regards to the email you sent last night--well, I couldn't have said it
any better.

Yes, they have put a great deal of money into that deaf school over the
years.

I worked at the blind school there part time a while back--sort of got out
of the loop when I was sick for so long. I like working there and also
liked working with the folks that work there though and I must applaud the
deaf for advocating for the school.

Best,
Georgia

GENESEE COUNTY, Michigan — Powers Catholic High School officials have
confirmed their interest in relocating to a renovated school on the Michigan
School

for the Deaf's Miller Road campus.

The private school's search for a new home has led officials to consider "at
least a couple dozen places" in the past eight years and

the proposed deal

between the state and private developer Lurvey White Ventures is happening
with Powers in mind as a future tenant, Powers principal Tom Furnas said
today.

"One of the things we like about it is it's a mature campus," Furnas said.

proposed renovation of the Michigan School for the Deaf campus, which would
be shared

with Powers Catholic High School under the plan.

Members of both the state House and Senate have introduced bills that would

OK offering the state-owned property

for $1.3 million to Lurvey White Ventures.

The developer would build a new school for the MSD and lease it to the state
for a base rent of no more than $2,060,000, according to the bill.

If the state approves the purchase and Powers is able to meet fundraising
goals for the move, Furnas said Powers students would attend classes in the
new

building beginning with the 2012-2013 school year.
