Michigan State No. 5 in both polls, BCS rankings

Michigan State jumped three places to No. 5 in the Associated Press college
football
poll Sunday and from seventh to fifth in the BCS standings following the
Spartans'
35-27
win
over Northwestern.
The
Spartans
(8-0) also are fifth in the USA Today coaches' poll. Michigan (5-2), which
was idle
on Saturday, is unranked in the AP poll and No. 25 in the coaches' poll.

Oregon, which was idle, retained its No. 1 ranking in both polls.
